BONG JOON HO IS THE 2020 OSCAR WINNER FOR DIRECTING FOR PARASITE
Bong Joon Ho is the Oscars 2020 winner for Directing for his work on PARASITE. Congratulations to Bong Joon Ho on his Oscar win, one of three for the night. He also won for Best Picture and Writing (Original Screenplay) this year. Other nominees for Directing included Martin Scorsese in THE IRISHMAN, Todd Phillips in JOKER, Sam Mendes in 1917, and Quentin Tarantino in ONCE UPON A TIME...IN HOLLYWOOD.
10 Korean films make 'Bechdel Choice 10' list for promoting gender equality
The Directors Guild of Korea (DGK) announced 10 Korean films that made it to the "Bechdel Choice 10” that helped promote gender equality in the Korean film industry among films that were released last year until the first half of this year on Wednesday.
The Bechdel test, named after American female cartoonist Alison Bechdel, was made in 1985 and has become the basis for assessing how frequent leading women appear in films. To pass the test, at least two named female characters have to appear in the movie, and they have to talk about a subject not related to male characters.
SF8 : Eight DGK members participate as directors
SF8 is a South Korean science fiction anthology television series. It is a movie-drama project among the DGK(Directors Guild of Korea), MBC, the OTT platform Wavve. MBC TV is scheduled to air two episodes a week in August 2020.
The series is set to be screened at the 24th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival.
